Green Zone was founded with a simple yet profound mission: to share the authentic treasures of Sri Lanka’s spice heritage with the world. Our island, historically known as the ‘Spice Island,’ is home to the world’s finest Ceylon Cinnamon, and we felt a deep calling to make this exceptional spice, along with other premium local offerings like potent Cinnamon Oils and aromatic Black Pepper, accessible globally.

At Green Zone, we source directly from our own plantation practicing sustainable agriculture in Sri Lanka’s perfect cinnamon-growing climate. From the careful harvesting of cinnamon bark to the meticulous steam distillation of our oils, we ensure that every product carrying the Green Zone name represents the pinnacle of Sri Lankan spice excellence.

Ceylon Cinnamon: The Jewel of Sri Lankan Spices

For centuries, Sri Lanka has been renowned for producing the world’s finest cinnamon. But not all cinnamon is created equal. What makes Ceylon Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), often called ‘True Cinnamon,’ so special?

  • Unique Origin: It is native to Sri Lanka and thrives in the island’s unique soil and climate.
  • Delicate Flavour & Aroma: Unlike the harsher, bolder flavour of Cassia cinnamon (common in many supermarkets), Ceylon Cinnamon offers a subtly sweet, warm, and complex flavour profile with delicate floral notes.
  • Appearance: True Ceylon Cinnamon quills are identifiable by their thin, papery layers rolled together like a cigar, and their tan-brown colour. Cassia bark is typically thicker, harder, and darker.
  • Low Coumarin Content: This is a key differentiator. Ceylon Cinnamon naturally contains significantly lower levels of coumarin, a compound that can be harmful in large doses. This makes it the preferred choice for regular consumption and health-conscious individuals.
